History

Nova-Tech was formed in 1988 through a joint venture for the purpose of manufacturing animal serums. Although fluid therapy products for the animal health market were not on the radar at the time, the installation of a level 100 cleanroom and related equipment set the stage for Nova-Tech’s future.

Nova-Tech began manufacturing over-the-counter Dextrose 50% and Calcium Gluconate 23% for Walco. This introduced us to the product family that is our core business today because it coincided with a rising market demand for Lactated Ringers, Sterile Saline, CMPK and other aqueous-based products, including vitamins and injectable minerals.

As our customer base grew, additional products were added and batch sizes increased.  All drug products produced by Nova-Tech are private-labeled and most enter the marketplace via large animal health distribution companies. When our annual production went from 400,000 units per year to 4,000,000, we knew it was time to “think big.”

Building a New Facility

Nova-Tech developed a business plan describing a significant expansion of our capabilities. Using a combination of economic development incentives, including those made available through LB840, the SBA 504 loan program and the Nebraska Advantage Program, Nova-Tech was able to purchase a spec building in the Platte Valley Industrial Park in Grand Island, Neb., late in 2008. Orders for major equipment, including the filler, sterilizer and WFI water system were placed in January 2009; construction began in April 2009 and was completed in June 2011.

The state-of-the-art facility doubles Nova-Tech’s previous manufacturing capacity, establishing it as one of the largest animal health parenteral injectable manufacturers in the U.S. The entire $10.5 million, 50,000-square-foot facility is dedicated to aseptic fill and features two level 100 filling suites, designed to address a wide array of services and capabilities.

Growing Our Own

A crucial step in the success and growth of Nova-Tech has been “to grow our own” — to recruit, retain, and promote bright, enthusiastic and talented staff. The success we have enjoyed is because of our team of dedicated people who have adopted one vision and work together to accomplish our goals.

Currently, all the products manufactured by Nova-Tech are administered by intravenous, subcutaneous or muscular injection.  Products are private-labeled for animal health distributors such as: Animal Health International (AHI), MWI, Vedco, Durvet, AgriLabs, Bioniche, Multimin, Butler Schein, IBA, Neogen, A&G Pharmaceutical, Clipper (Phoenix) and VetTech. Our finished products can be purchased through a local veterinarian or found at an over-the-counter retailer.

Our 30TH Year

January 2018 marked the start of our 30th anniversary at Nova-Tech. This closely held Nebraska corporation has earned a respected position in a competitive technical field, providing customers with quality products and unparalleled service.

While there have been many significant changes in the supply chain in a quarter century, Nova-Tech remains a constant in a market that is heavily influenced by regulatory demands and commodity pressures. Our substantial investment in new equipment and facilities signals our intention to remain at the forefront of aseptic manufacturing.
